Yes, bastards.

If it had been 8, I would stand a chance of seeing it but since I'll be on my way to the frozen north in a few minutes, no chance. It will be over by the time I get near a telly.

I hope it's on tomorrow night on Beeb 2 about 11 and a bittish.

Evo vs Murcielago should be interesting, ultimate chavmobile vs upper class monster. I suspect which side one will be rooting for depends on whether one wears white socks or grey socks handmade on Jermyn Street.

I was the Lambo to win, cos no matter what the Evo does, the Lambo is better. But part of me wants the Evo to win just 'cos its crazy that this can happen ;)

And clashes with the Antiques Road Show.

Someone in Winchester has one, it should win just for the noise alone.

Oh yes and if I can get over there with a digicam, the Jap. specialist next door to the YankTank specialist that does work on my Explorer has the world's worst GTR in the courtyard. Barbie pink with a truly, utterly, hideous rear spoiler that curves up like Barbie's hairdo. It's worthy of Top Gear's Carbage feature.

I hope you were missing some tags there?

Saw a newish Lambo in Black today, just coming out of Leigh, looked fantastic, and sounded evil as he floored it just after turning at the lights. I would love mine to sound that good, but it is a few cylinder and CC short to sound right.

Eeek no, I try not to spend any money on the Dirty Digger. I got to see it on Mondya night. I bet that Evo would really piss off Lambo owners.

He - no kidding, I kept repeating that bit, although I reckon he Lambo is actually quicker and the whole thing was staged, purely on the amount of tyre contact area and available power. And no lag on the lambo.

17 Does anyone else /disagree/ with Jeremy's explanation of lag - I always look at it as the dead time between being in the right rev range off throttle, hitting the throttle and the turbo hitting full blow - fraction of a second in my car, and probably not very long in the Mitsy. As the Mitsy is geared for >175 mph in top, it's probably about 30mph/1000 rpm, so the whole "it's slower than a stilo" argument was crap too.

Yes, I did.

Yep - that's exactly what I think too. Lag is simply the time it takes the Turbo to spool up.

What happens when you're below the boost level (2100rpm in mine) is neither here nor there - cos if you're trying to make progress, then you'll have changed down so that you are in the boost level.

You effectively have *infinite* lag when you're below the boost level - because the Turbo will *never* spool up until the revs rise high enough to take you into the boost zone...

Only a lummox would try to accelerate a Turbo car from below the level at which it makes boost, and then complain that it isn't making any boost.

Agreed.
