UK.rec.car.audio is a bit dead so...

I think he's meaning that Sony audio kit is a bit pish. Autoleads only do sony leads for the 206 so he'd have to use a sony stereo which he doesnt want to do.

I don't think stalk controls are in dispute here. I think my parents E reg Renault Espace had them. They are old news nowadays (c:

I wasn't claiming they were hi tech or anything!

Talking of Sony stereos - I remember a while back a few people mentioned Sony stereos in general had crap FM reception (or radio reception generally) - just to say that the Sony stereo in my Carlton always had crap FM reception. I just got used to listening to the same 10 CDs over and over as I could rarely be bothered to change them!

I never claimed that you were claiming that they were hight tech!

I've never been that impressed by the sound pumped out of the Sony ICE that I've heard. I had a mate who had some pretty expensive at the time sony headunites, minidisc and CD changers and I was never all that impressed. It was a corsa he was installing the kit in. Perhaps the crapness rubbed off.

There are CDs in my car's changer that have been there since I bought the car last september. (c:

Are these the DrOetker Pizzas? They are fantastic too, and dirt cheap,=20 even in Tesco/Asda.

Cheap unknown brand with a dodgy ad campaign in the UK now (been buying=20 them now for about 7 years (first found them for pennies in Kwiksave=20 when I was a student), but when I was in Berlin, loads of the food shops=20 had bundles of DrOetker branded home baking/cooking products and foods.

You can get car specific attachments from most of the major manufacturers that don't make their own HDD based headunits, that allow full control of the iPod.

Also, have a look at the Kenwood music Keg, and the Dension make

have a look at

and search for MP3 (they have the Mstation audio players if your headunit has AUX in)

What's the difference ? iPod is the best of both worlds, cos you can take it with you when you aren't in the car !

Clearly a better choice than the car specific stuff

In my experience, most of Sony's modern kit is crap full-stop !

Long gone are the days when they were a premium brand !

Sony car audio usually sounds pretty dire.

I don't rekon your stereo does anything that could actually be multiplexed ? Whip it out, and see if you've got a pair of ISOs behind !

My Sony VCR is bloody brilliant. I bought it about 4 years ago from a professional video photographer, and the pause and in-picture rewind/fast-forward are pretty much perfect. Model no is an SLV-E710. Brilliant quality machine, that. So good I bought another off ebay (I searched for the model no. as I was after a remote as I lost the original, and ended up buying another unit - handy, as I was after a second VCR anyway, and wanted a decent quality one, so that was handy).

Maplin have HDD and FM tuner car units but overpriced as usual (couple=20 of hundred, doubt it sounds decent). Bit like the latest combined=20 Dension unit, and it might even be that one.
