Some of the best car auctions take place at marts up and down the country.

I have been to one in Scotland

Monday night at 6pm.

we deal with a MASSIVE one at work called Manheim, think they have a web site. during the day you get some good bargins as the public tend to go to there evening auctions. you'll see a lot of over age stock down there from where i work, mainly shitty looking Peugeot 307's :)

Mannheims are also *s**te* for the private punter looking to buy the occasional car, IME.

They charge much larger premiums than any other auction house I've bought stuff from.

Do have some interesting stuff though.

I've been to several the worst being a toss up between one in Northampton and Enfield and the best being blackbushe (bought a fully loaded focus 2.0 ghia with everything on the options list bar leather for £3k, it was blue, the crappy 1.8 lx type silver ones all went for at least £5.5k, same with a gsi2000 way back in 90 for £3k and my estate for £2400 and a volve 760 glt estate for £700 and a senator 3.0 for £100 :) ) bargain days in hall 3 are ace for a motor to just smoke about in till it breaks

I've got a few cheap cars from BCA in Blackbushe, and also been up there getting more expensive cars for other people. Everytime I've been up there there's been some bargin cars going through, but it all depends what you're after. They have specialist auctions as well as your run of the mill stuff. It used to be 3 times a week I think. Their website will tell you, and you can download a list of the cars going in each day for a small fee.

I've also used a local one on Southampton docks which is great if you want something very cheap to runabout in. That used to be on a thursday night.
