I got 3 points for 44mph in a 30. That was in 2001 so i assume theyre gone now. (3 years?) Although, they might as well still be there, because every insurance company i have asked for a quote, wants to know of convictions within the last 5 years.

my cousin got points on his for "furious acceleration" I might have mentioned it in the past, but basically he left a panda car for dead at a set of lights in his cortina savage (way way back in the day this was, perhaps 81?) and when the pulled up infront of his with the lights going at the next set of traffic lights they bundled him away :)

still, it was better than when they tried to do him for drink driving (also back in the day) and he led them on a merry chase back to his house all the people in the car were over the limit by a pint or 2 so they all got taken down to the cells overnight no one fessed up so they let them all go again

not that I'm condoning this sort of thing mind, this was nearly 25 years ago and I only found out when my old man and his old man went to bail him out the next morning

Don't know if anyone can beat this :)

I once got clocked for speeding 9 times in a 3 day period, in total 27 points.

This was in 1989 in a MK1 Escort reg SYD 150M, basically they had a purge on boyracers in my local town and rigged up a shitty old commer BT van with dark windows and a speed cam, I drive past there 9 times over the 3 day period and the fastest I was going was 36mph, I was second highest at the court hearing, another guy got 15 :)

90 day ban + 50 quid fine, no points and no totting up which saved on my insurance, then to top it all off I got pulled for speeding 2 days before my court case, fortunately even though I got a fixed penalty handed to me they could not even fine me as it had to be taken in consideration at my court case.

Since then I never speed and have not received 1 point since 1989 :)

Had 6 point for undertaking a plod car on the motorway and then doing 120mph right in front of them. Said I averaged 104mph over 1/2 mile, starting at

60mph. Bastards refused to move over, sitting in the outside lane at 60mph with no traffic in inside lane. Empty motorway, daylight, dry. Car was unmarked though in my defence. Have since done far higher speeds, more often with stronger acceleration but look harder before I do it :-)

Lol - you trying to make yourself feel better????!?

Mine's clean, got expired speedings (40 in a 30, 85 on the M1).

Currently 41 in a 30, on the bike. Northampton's finest in a council-workmen looking van at the side of a 30 limit dual carriageway. Still got 18 months of that one to run.

Previously, same sort of thing, 30mph dual carriageway, but was got by a camera van only a couple of months after getting a car license (somehow managed 3 years on bikes without anything, and points straight away in the car).

99.7mph - 6 points - Corrado 1.8 16V 101mph - 2 week ban - Corrado VR6 110mph - 2 month ban - Corrado VR6 37 in a 30 - 3 points - Aprillia RS125 55 in a 50 - 3 points - Polo 1.6

Escaped:

125mph past a marked Saab - was doing 60 when they caught me up... ;-) 50odd in a 30 overtaking someone - he hit the reset button on laser when he threw it in passenger seat to come after me. Oh how we laughed.

Back to a clean licence in 4 months time when last three pointer comes off. I've been good. :-)

SP50 M6 near Blackburn.

"Shall we call it 98mph Sir?" made me very happy.

Chuckle.

I've had 3 point SP30, for doing 45 in a 30 (safely I might add, in a none-built-up area - was actually doing about 55mph, but I slammed the anchors on when I saw some headlights parked up on the side of the road), back at the end of 1999 up in Penrith, so it's prolly gone now.

Got 3 more points TS20, for overtaking on double-white-lines, in early 2002. Long straight road, perfect visibility, and I'll be buggered if I'm going to patiently wait behind 40mph-Suzuki-Vitara-Man, just cos the bloody lines say so ! Police Motorbike guy didn't see it that way though.

Escaped 102mph for an extended period, on the motorway south-side of the Humber Bridge, back in 1999. Marked Volvo had been following me (at a distance) for about 9 miles - eventually pulled up behind, and pulled me over. Sat me in the back of his car, and showed me the video, and my average speed over those 9 miles. Middle of the night, excellent visibility, and very little traffic, and he said he'd watched me carefully for those 9 miles - I'd always indicated when changing lanes etc. Said he was quite happy with "a bit" of speed, but 100mph is too much, and if he handed the video to a judge, I'd be getting an instant ban. Sent me on my way, and told me that if I'd made the slightest error in those 9 miles, he'd be giving me a ticket.

Escaped 22nd December 2004, overtaking a long line of cars on a long straight single-carriageway, just outside of Scarborough. Pulled back in doing about 95mph just before a roundabout, to see Police Van parked up right infront of me, watching the traffic. Thought "ooops" and slammed the anchors on. Went over the roundabout, and round a bend, to see a T5 sat in a laybay. Thought "shit". And then as I went passed the T5, he pulled out directly behind me. I thought "shit shit shit". But then at the next roundabout he went right round, and back the other way ! I half expected a NIP in the post (assuming the van had a camera, and T5 man was just running my plates etc.) but nothing showed up. Phew.

That's about all the run-ins I've had. I speed excessively every single day, but luckily they don't bother enforcing anything in North Yorkshire (Scarborough only has two traffic cars, and they have to cover Whitby to York to Bridlington, so you NEVER EVER see them ). We have no fixed speed cameras, and I seem to remember they only have one mobile unit - but I've never seen it. They have two unmarked traffic cars though, one of which is a burgundy T5.

As long as there are no more than 6 points on my license at any given time, then all is well, so I'm quite happy to be caught every two years or so.

When I was at uni, before I'd passed my test, I had this old clapped-out Fiesta that I was doing up in time for when I got my license. It had a bit of tax and MOT on it when I got it but these lapsed over the Easter holidays. I had just got back to Uni with two friends from back home and we were planning a night out when two coppers knocked on the door. Although the car was parked there and hadn't been moved for several weeks, they hammered me for no tax, no MOT and gave me an IN10 and 6 points for having no insurance. I asked what harm the car could do if it was immovable due to mechanical problems and he said "someone might hurt themselves if it has a sharp edge on it"

Anyway I didn't know at the time it was illegal to have a car parked out there uninsured. I was a wally though eh! Expensive lesson learned - 6 points and a total fine of £300. And those 6 points have had the insurance companies fine me about £150 every year on my premium too, or just return a "we can't insure you because you have unacceptable convictions"

And once, when phoning around for quotes, I explained to the guy on the end of the line what happened for me to get my IN10 and he said "I'd better move that volvo when I get home then!" and explained that he had a car parked without insurance...

The points will come off in March as it'll have been 4 years. Why the hell do insurance companies want to know about the last 5 years though!?? I've only ever experienced one insurance company who only interested in the last

3 years conviction history, and that was a classic policy.

You're very lucky. It's not unknown for them to hammer you just based on the fact you didn't spot a fully marked up car for so long.

Ahh, using news.individual.net and it's working well! I can see all the posts that I previously had to use google-beta to use!

Anyway I escaped twice.

I was in my fiesta (once I'd passed my test and got myself tax, insurance and MOT!)

Driving on the A444 into Coventry, having had a row with my (now ex) girlfriend when a Pug 306 pulled me over. I was in a pretty pissed off mood. It went something like this:

Me: Winds down window "can I help you officer" Plod: "What's the speed limit on the A444." Me: "50mph." Plod: "What speed were you travelling" Me: "As far as I know, 50mph." Plod: "You were doing at least 80mph" Me: "You're joking right? I'd like to see proof. Do you have a video camera?" Plod: Looks uncomfortably at his accompanying officer "No we don't..." Me: "This car struggles to make 70mph, I mean, look at the state of it!" Plod: "Well we had to do 90mph just to keep up with you!" Me: "So you're now telling me that I was doing 90mph when we've established that my car can't do 80mph?" Plod: "So what speed do you think you were doing" Me: "As I said, as far as I know, 50mph but I wasn't really paying that much attention as it's a short bit of road and this car couldn't build enough speed on it for me to exceed the speed limit" Plod: "So are you saying you were driving without due care and attention?" Me: "Look I'm sorry officer! If you want to book me then please save me the pain" Plod: "Now it's dark, it's wet. You shouldn't be driving fast in these conditions. DON'T DO IT AGAIN!" Me: Winds up window thinking, how the hell did I get away with being so lippy to the policeman?? He didn't even give me a producer!

I also escaped when on the A46 towards Warwick I put my foot down in the Lancia to shake off a BMW that was tailgating me. I then saw the van on the bridge.

My car was broken into and my expensive mountainbike was nicked. The next day I got the NIP for 97mph. Where were those bastards when my car was being broken into? Anyway I filled out the NIP, got it photocopied at a copyshop, kept the photocopy and the receipt. My friend convinced me not to reply to the NIP, and that if any registered post came to my house, to not sign for it.

That was over 2 years ago. Nothing's happened :) And my friend who gave me the advice did the same thing and got off too!

well on top of my current 6 points I got another 3 recently - a PC30 which is quite embarrassing.

Agreed :)

He was following me at GREAT distance - I couldn't possibly have known he was a marked car. I regularly use my mirrors - if he'd been close enough to see, then I would have seen him.

Anyhow, he freely admitted that I'd been totally safe, and caused no danger whatsoever during those 9 miles, and that was why he was sending me on my way. I'd have been a bit miffed if he'd then proceeded to write me out a ticket :)

His method of dealing with me worked very well though. Whilst previously I'd often cruise at 100mph-ish on the motorway, I don't go over 90mph now.

2 points for 61 in a 40. I think that was maybe 2 years ago. It was one of those stupid 40mph zones and 1:30am, few days after they brought the points system in and 2 days before christmas. Bastards

About 2 months ago i passed an unmarked squad car doin 80. He was doin about

55 and i was sitting at 80 just crusin along. Bastards folled me for about 15 miles before pulling me and searchin the car under the drugs somethin or other act. Never said anythin about passing them or the lack of test or the flames. Lucky enough there i suppose
