Big Al opined in news:6q3bc.80$ snipped-for-privacy@news.uswest.net:
Here's a hint... INterstate Ford in Dayton OH area is advertising the V6 with the usual package for 13,995.
How can this BE!?!?
According to KBB, my '02 GT convert is worth over $16k. So theoretically I could trade it in for a brand new one and only pay about $3k-$5k.

Been hearing ads for the something here in SE Virginia.
I have been told I am not allowed to use a broadsword to disprove ?The Pen is Mightier than the sword?.
I found their web site and emailed them for a quote. We'll see...

Portsmouth Ford in NH is selling one new 04 GT for $18,499 but It is not a premium and they are only listing one. They usually have the lowest prices in this area. Better pricing in Florida, I guess.
Brandon Ford in Tampa was advertising GTs w/o leather for $16888. This was about two weeks ago and I have not seen the add since. Now they are advertising GTs w/ leather for $18950. Standard V6 coupes were $11,995 two weeks ago , now they are $12,899. 40th aniversary Pony's are now $14,850.
This dealer claims to be the second largest mustang dealer in the country and has an offsite storage field about a mile from the dealership that has so many mustangs it's unbelieveable. Seems like the longer you wait the lower the prices will go with the 2005 Mustang coming out.
I was tempted to get a 2004 at $16,888 but I'm going to wait for the 2005 - brings back memories of my 65' 289 FB.
That's an amazing price! It cost that much for a new GT back in the early
90's. I remember reading about the best performance deal being the SSP Mustang, if you knew someone in fleet that could get one for you. They were in the 12's back around 91 or so, if you could swing one.Steve

I called some dealers you guys recommended. Seems there was some sort of promotion in March. They are more like $20K now. I told them if it comes up again to call me.
In 87 I bought a 5.0, 5 speed LX coupe for $11,700 and in 89 I bought a hatchback for $17K, but it was loaded. I'd jump on a 2004 for $16K. I paid $23.8K for my 2002 Z28 with tax and license and I thought that was a deal.

Well that explains why I haven't seen that ad price in about two weeks. They have to have another promo before the 2005 Stang hits the market. Probably again in August or September ? At any rate , If I see it advertised again at the $16,888 price, I'll repost the info.
I emailed the salesman that I bought my '02 from. He said there's no way the GT's are selling for that. He also said there were some rebates that got the V6 near those prices, but not the GT's.
Mitch,
I suggest you get a different Ford dealer. He's likely to screw you if you ever go in again. I scanned these from this Sunday's Seattle newspaper. Mind you they're all "this one", but it shows that he's talking out of his a$$. There is one GT in the bunch, but it's a little higher than the $16K. But, it leads me to believe that there may be dealers out there selling for that price.

Geez, that's amazing. That's ALOT of car for $18k! If I wanted to be a prick I guess I could send him this ad. :-)
Down here in Florida, they're still giving them away.
All ads from yesterday's Tampa Tribune (sorry, I don't have a scanner) Ernie Haire Ford: LX - $11,995 GT - $16,899 Deluxe Conv. - $19,499 (not GT)
Brandon Ford: Coupe - $12,899 Pony - $14,850 Premium GT - $18,950 Mach 1 - $23,975
I just bought my first Mustang 2 weeks ago from a different dealer. He was advertising $7800 off brand new 2003 GT's. I figured I'd go take a look late Sunday afternoon. They had 4 left, 2 yellow, 1 white, and 1 silver, all convertables, which is what I was looking for. I didn't tell them, but I wanted to buy a car for $20,000 or under, complete out the door price. That was including taxes, title, fees, etc. I had a 97 Pontiac Grand Prix for a trade, if they were interested. It had over 120K miles on it, the air was shot, I never had a brake job. They looked at it, said it was worth $1000. Bottom line, my hopes were shot. MSRP was $29,315 - $7,800 off - $1,000 for my trade = $20,515. I didn't figure that they would eat the taxes, title, and fees, but they're one question was, if we can make the deal, would I take the car home with me today. I told them yes, they asked what it would take, and I told them I'd give them $19,000, out the door. They hemmed and hawed, came back with a $21,000 figure, and I countered with a $19,500 offer. I said take it or leave it. They asked one more time if I'd take the car home. I said yes, they said, "Done". They even beat my financing. I was able to get 3.85% from my credit union, they gave me
3.25%. So now I am the owner of a new 2003 Silver GT, 5 spd, convertable.Sorry about rambling.
Tom
WOW!!! GREAT deal! :>)

Thats about right , Brandon Ford's add today had V6 Mustangs for $11,995 and supposedly 30 Standard GTs for $17,999 each. So I expect them to keep playing with the price trying to entice us since they know a lot of us are waiting for the 2005 GT.
