How do I get the hand lever on the parking brake, off of a 1965 mustang? It looks like there's a pin there but I can't budge it. I've got a replacement for it if I can get the old one off. Any hints for me?
thanks

Hell, I can't get my pin to stay in! IIRC doesn't the pin stick out slightly? If so then you should be able to pull it out with pliers or visegrips. If not, you might to be able to break the handle (or does it have a metal sleeve?) since you're going to replace it anyway. Sorry I'm not more help but I have exactly the opposite problem.

Remove the parking brake handle assembly. Its held on by two nuts on the firewall underneath the hood. Release the cable from the assembly. Then you can take the assembly to a convenient location and use a punch and hammer to remove the pin. I tried removing the pin without doing this for an hour. Removing the assembly took 10 min.
Anyone know where you can get a parking brake handle that doesnt bend when you pull on it hard to stop the car from rolling down a hill ????
