1987 302 better mill for supercharging?

I had heard that at one point Mustang 302's had either forged pistons and rods and/or roller rockers from the factory. Are these better for mild supercharging applications than current (or the last) 302s?

The best 5.0 motors are the '87-'92s. They have the best heads, and all come with forged pistons. The '93-'95 302s have the weaker "Hyper" pistons.

Patrick,

Not to try to one-up, but I was pretty sure that the E7TE head was introduced to the Mustang in 1988. From everything I've read (never owned an '87 5.0 though), the E7TE head was put on the trucks only in '87, then it was determined it was a good head to hang on a Mustang.

I could be wrong though. I know the '87 doesn't have the '86 heads.. so if it doesn't have E7TEs, I don't know what it has.

In any event, I agree... stick with the forged pistons if you're going to put pressure to it. Your wallet will thank you.

'86 had the bad heads. '87 is when they got the truck head hence the 225hp that year. StuK
