2000 gt speedo calibration

373 gears being installed today, anyone have some quick tips or suggestions about calibrating the speedo. Hoping I don't have to pay another $130 for the electronic calibrater & wait a week for shipping. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Kelly

You mean, *besides* going with a 245/95R17 tire (around 35" tall) in the rear? :)

Sorry, but on the 99+ (and maybe the later SN-95s too) the electronic calibrator is the only way to do it.

Who did the gear swap and where are they located? After you put a few hundred miles on the car, please report back on how you like the new gears, and if you had any problems. Do you have any other mods on your car? Thanks.

If it's a 5-speed car the SpeedCal from Dallas Mustang (or Brother's, same thing) works great. If it's an AODE then you need a computer reflash (which will also work for a 5-spd.).

Just a thot.. If you're considering any other basic mods in the near future like cold air, throttle body; you might consider a chip like Diablo. Its not all that more expensive than the SpeedCAl. Go to a shop that can burn the chip from a download that Diablo sends them, or if they have the program they can write the file an burn it. Beauty of it is if you make any other mods they just reburn the chip.

I had gears done, have cold air.. chip recalibrated the speedo, advanced the timing and reset the timing curve, and raised the rev limit. It also set the Traction Control from "ON" to completely "always OFF"... bonus as far as I'm concerned. Reasoning is with the advanced timing if the TC goes off or the rev limiter kicks in, the mixture leans out and that can cause detonation.. $$$$.
