2004 GT horsepower

Estimates? I though the manufactures is supposed to take a statistical sample from their production line and then take some sort of average to come up with the HP rating for an engine. That's what I read somewhere anyway. Let's face it, due to tolerances, all engines coming out of the same plant won't have the same HP. I don't know what the tolerances are but let's say it's 5%. For a 200 HP engine, that means plus or minus 10HP and so it could be as low as 190HP if you're unlucky or as high as 210HP if you're lucky. I remember when I had the old 5.0 pushrod engine that was initially rated at

225HP but they dropped it down eventually to 205HP due to an error in their statistical sampling. Any comments?

Isn't this just a long winded way of saying Ford's hp ratings are estimated? Term "estimated" implies there is some deviation in that number quoted. They probably do sample the engines to establish the estimated hp figure. I don't think they continually sample them through the model year, just at the beginning. Do a Google search on Ford's hp estimates of the 5.0L engine. Many think Ford dropped the hp numbers for marketing reasons more than actual hard data.

The ford numbers are 260 HP for the GT 4.6 2V. Although I had mine on a dyno shoertly after purchasing and it was at 265HP, so there are some variances to that number. My purpose for the dyno, was to see the difference before some mods. I added a Diablo sport chip and flowmaster series 80 exhaust, which dynoed at almost 295HP. I'll give you some more ratings if you like after the Denscharger cold air induction, C&L 80mm MAF, Accufab 75mm TB, and C&L Plenum go on.

If you could that would be great. How is the stock exhaust system? Is it very restrictive? Are the pipes mandrel bent?
