My opinion on this is:
1) The 2005 Mustangs have a better looking front 2) The 1999-2004 mustangs have a better looking rear and side lookI think that the 2005's dont look as "aggressive". That is one reason why I went from my '00 GT to an 05 Subaru Impreza WRX STi - that and the handling, cheap updgrades and high-end hardware & AWD. Still really like Mustangs, and would definitely consider the Cobra GT500 whenever it becomes available (hopefully in a 500HP package, but the problem I am seeing is that despite the higher HP numbers, the new "tuner" Mustangs are showing lower performance than the stock 2005 GT).
Musty.
No accountring for taste I guess, and to each hie own. Strange that it's the hottest selling stang in a long while...
I like the 05. The front and side looks good to me. the rear is fair. The rear of the 99-04 does look better to me too as the other poster pointed out. I thought the edgy look of the 99-04 was a big improvement over the nearly family sedan look of the previous years.
Car designers have to restrain themselves when creating a new design. Some new designs with a hot look seem to "burn out" quick and stop selling. I think GM pushed the Camaro/Firebird design too far. The bathtub cockpit was not comfortable for many and the styling was a bit overdone and became tiresome to look at. The firebird's "rubber tug" front end and the Camaro's Cavalier like rear didn't help things. John
The unfinished look is why I didn't wait to buy one. The GT500 however has the exact look that I had expected the GT to have.
Ugly???
Nope!
I find it very odd that you're responding now to a post that goes back to at least August, 2004. Would you like to take a little time to get caught up, or will you be bringing back other "golden oldies" at random?

Boy, that Mustang II really blows.

I Think the rear end looks unfinished. Depending on the color of the car, I think it would look good if it were painted black on the area between the two tail lights where the gas filler is located.
Especially on a light colored car, like yellow or white.
