2005 - so dulled down.....

Maybe I missed all the rantings about this -

I saw the pics from the Detroit show - sure you all have as well. What happened to all the Shelby styling cues?

Complete buzz kill - I am honestly not even interested anymore. My only hope is that they bring back some of the cool stuff in Shelby(Cobra) model.....

Which ones?

Personally, I think they nailed it, especially with the V6's exterior. The gage cluster is pure bad-ass, and those V6 wheels are awesome. I'm glad to see they got rid of those stupid split fog/turn signals up front, and those -W-I-D-E- taillights looked just plain wrong. IMO, this is the best looking Mustang since the FOX-body LX.

My only real complaint from the pictures is the strip of aluminum (?) running across the dash, but I'm sure we'll be able to fix that with aftermarket overlay kits. Carbon fiber might look good...

Now, what they *really* need to do is to throw the GT drivetrain and suspension in the V6 body (IE, another GTS), and I'd find a way to buy one without hesitation.

Speaking totally objectively (cough cough) I have liked the mustang body styles less and less after they became 'boxier' and messed with the door handles sometime after '98. Of course it could simply be that I so dearly loved my 98 cobra too!

I will have to wait until I see a '05 in person, but I am not impressed so far. Most of what I saw coming out of the auto show was pretty barf-making, although I did like the Bronco concept vehicle.

If in person the '05's look like what I saw in the photos, I am going to have to run out and snap up a '04 cobra before they are all gone!

(Suggestions as to how I can convince my lovely wife that having a new pony is more important than food or shelter are greatly appreciated! Will also accept winning lotto number suggestions (before the drawing that is!) )

No sweat: offer to live in it, and knaw on those nutritous leather seating surfaces for the next 60 months.

My asshole brother played a horrible joke on me. Before knowing that this is the new mustang, he used photoshop to remove the mustang logo off the picture and showed it to me!

I swore that it was a horrible version of a Nissan 240 SX! I thought someone was playing with the 240 sx, and could not get the front valance and the hood straight, that was why the grille looked like it is sad (lips turned down in sadness). But then what do I know, when I first saw the picture of the current one, I thought it was a horrible version of the Toyota Celica!

Love my 66 and stand by the 64-1/2 through the 1969 as the best mustangs ever! Just go take a look at a well preserved 67 fastback! I am getting all wet thinking about it!

Amen to that brother Garth!

that V6 package is screaming for a return of the LX. From what I have read the production V6 cars won't get the aluminum crap on the dash either.

Really? Maybe we could talk about a 4- or 5-speed stick, with plenty of horsepower.

Not an automatic, of course.

450 hp naturally or enhanced? Married to a 5 speed? Nice magnum wheels?
