8.8 inch rear gears

I am looking for the lowest (numerically) available 8.8. inch rear gear, something on the order of a 2.50. It seems the only ones that are still made are 3.08s. Even the 2.73s seem to be available only used. Does anyone know where I can get a rear gear that is in the 2.xxs new?

TIA!

You can find a complete 8.8" out of a 5.0 with 2.73 gears for less than it would cost to swap in new gears.

Ah, missing information:) Well, just be sure you find someone that knows what they're doing to install the gears. Lots of people will tell you how easy it is to change the ring and pinion. Don't believe it:) The 8.8 Ford is not as hard as a Dana 44, but it's not easy.

Did you know an 8.8 inch Ford is almost exactly a 12 bolt Chevy? Look at both of them in a service manual. They are both damned tough rear ends.

They came with a 3.27. Those are readily available from many sources such as Ford and Richmond Gear, and many of their distributors.

Some stock automatic GT's came with 3.27's.

Hey I know you were looking for new but I have a set of 2.73's in my

1990 GT right now that I am going to be taking out to replace with 3.27 cobra gears. If you are interested I will probably be selling them.
