Best gauge brand?

Hello. I'm considering adding some auxiliary gauges in my 90 GT, and have seen plenty of Autometer and VDO. There's the Ford Motorsport as well.

My plan at the moment is to add a fuel pressure and trans temp (my car is auto) in a cage replacing the center AC vents. I'd also like a rich/lean gauge, likely mounted in a pod on the pillar.

I'd love to be installing a boost rather than trans temp, but that's wishful thinking. :-)

From your various experiences, which brand of gauges would you recommend? It seems Autometer is the most common, but I also know that doesn't always translate to the best quality. Thanks for the input.

I like VDO. OT, but Saab uses them (or used to) exclusively as the factory gauges.

I prefer Autometer. As for the rich/lean gauge, you'll find that it's not very accurate, and not very usefull. If you want something usefull, look at a Halmeter. Still not as good as a Lambda meter, but a heck of a lot cheaper.

Yea the Air/ fuel rich/lean guages are not acurate on any newer car. I think it something with the O2 sensors just throws the guage outta wack. It just moves up and down well or side to side depending on the guage. It doesnt really tell you anything.

A/F meters are about useless (unless you spend big bucks on a wideband unit). I use an Exhaust Gas Temperature meter and it was invaluable when tuning my 331 stroker. I might have burned up my engine if I had been using an A/F meter.
