Cobra II

Does anyone know the correct engine color for 76 V-6 Cobra II 2.8 Ltr. I believe it was black but unsure. Thanks in advance.

There were no V-6 Cobra II's, they all used the same optional 302 V8 as in the Mustang II's of that year.

Actually, since it was an appearance-only package, you could get the Cobra II with any of the available engines, either a 4, 6, or an 8.

From MustangII.net: The only models that had engine restrictions were the 1974 models in which the V-8 was not available and the 1978 King Cobra which could only be purchased with the 5.0 liter V-8.

Oh well, I knew it was an appearance package but always thought it was only available on the V8 models. I once had a '76 Cobra II V8 4-speed.

I don't know for sure, but every 70s ford block I've seen has been ford dark blue.

I used to work on a lot of these and German Capris in the early 80's but I'm damned if I can recall the colour with real certainty. I seem to remember black ( and rust!) motors but that may have been on the Capri. Thermostats were a BITCH on them I remember that!! StuK
