coddington's 'stang now 4 sale

Well, that nice 65 Mustang GT fastback that would have been a sweet car to restore but was instead turned into an ugly yellow hot rod by Coddington's crew, is now up for sale about as soon as the person got it. Price 150k:

I can think of a whole lot of better cars to pay 150k for...

If you seen the show you can see the overhead and waste. I swear with some decent engineering management costs could be cut drastically. Of course I understand the editing for the show may be giving a wrong impression, but geese, it's like they don't even plan.

Come on, Brent. Have sympathy. It's not just any plan they don't have; it's a *medical* plan they don't have. They just po ol mechanics. Open up your heart and your wallet and pay an outrageous amount so Boyd can maybe put some used lifters or something in the boys' Xmas stockings this year. You'l feel much better for helping support a small local business.

Although I liked the Mustang II front suspension...taking out those shock towers frees up a lot of room...(I wonder if a DOHC 4.6L would fit??), I'd take Overhaulin's Rustang over Coddington's any day.

Details such as the smoothed the bumper bolts...wheels that fit the car better...the color...smoothed the front license plate indent...really raise the bar. The sail panel was nice too. (Reminds me of Troy Trepanier's Fast Forward Fastback:

wasn't this Mustang some old ladies present? I remember seeing an older lady driving it at the end of the show but missed why. I do remember them making a big deal about getting it out the door. but that probably had more to do with someome paying track time.

When they lower their prices below my I'll do it myself threshold I'll consider it.

Foose comes up with ideas that fit the car. Boyd fits the car to his idea.

I saw the first episode with that car. I wasn't much impressed with the way he treats the employees or the way the employees treated each other. I think the most normal of them on the show was Roy.

I did think the walnut blasting was neat. Much better than stripper and scrapers. Anybody know what it costs to blast a car that way?

You're not much for tongue-in-cheek sarcasm, are you? Well, don't fret, I'm sure JD reached for his blood pressure meds for this post.

Without the shock towers, almost anything will fit. You can drop in a 4.6 mod motor with "off the shelf" parts. The name of the company that makes them escapes me at the moment, though.

Boyd probably makes the sweetest street rods on the planets, IMO. But a modified muscle car just doesn't seem to be his style. It's a very nice car, but just not his style. It seems like he's jumping on the "Me Too" band wagon. Sort of lowering himself a little. Troy, OTOH, has just that sense of style to really take an old muscle car and make it truly a work of art. But, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

As for the yellow Mustang, I'd be kind of pissed if I were the husband. He had that car built for his wife as a birthday present. And now it's for sale.

Now why would you want to put a 4.6 in place of a tricked out 351?

Good way to cure wheelspin.

Just not biting :) I am all for the small guy when he does a good job for the best price. For instance, I shop at independent grocery stores. Lower prices, shorter check out lines, better produce, better meat, and no 'saver'card nonsense.

Agree on the 150K but that car is sweet....Almost exactly what I would shoot for if I had the money/time.

Are you REALLY worried about the car being made unrestorable?

I'm not... if it wasnt a K or special... who cares!

As long as we're bitching about Boyd, did _anybody_ buy that "an old friend told me about a Mustang in a barn?" They were ripping out what looked to be a brand new interior and, of course, the car fires right up......

Yeah, right.

I agree...the paint looked like someone had used chemical stripper and a scraper to 'distress' it...the brake rotors also looked very rust free when they were hauling it on the flatbed. That barn looked like a Hollywood set.

There's too much contrived reality in these reality shows...but just seeing some of the process in building the cars..the bikes..etc gets me to tune in.

True, I also like to watch to see how much they can do in such a short time... That friggen amazes me every damn time! My paint/body guy had my car almost 3 years and I got nowhere near a "frame off" (I love how people use that term with uni-bodies) resto.
