Couple of 5.0 engine questions

I'm putting together a 5.0 (306 ci) for road racing that will also be a street driver as well. I'll be limited in HP by 9.5 lbs to 1 hp but not limited in torque. The engine will have AFR 165 heads with pedestal mount rocker arms. My first question is I need some suggestions on good but reasonably priced roller rockers. I imagine any rocker that will work on the stock heads would work but would like to hear any experience with some of the different brands.

I'm also looking for the right cam for this setup and not excluding any at this time. I'm now leaning towards the Lunati 15014 which has a duration of

284°/292°, lift of .500"/.510" and rpm range of 2500 to 6000. I've been told by several people that it puts out a lot of low and midrange torque which is what I'm looking for.

The only thing carved in stone at this point is the DSS Pro Bullitt shot block and AFR heads (I already own both). I'm also leaning towards a Trick Flow street heat intake with a 65mm TB and 24# injectors.

Any input would be appreciated.

Just watch out for valve cover clearance. If your using a stock aluminum valve cover they have bosses on the inside that can rub on a rocker that has a square corners. The Crane Cobra rockers have a tapered end on them to clear the bosses or the larger corner radius of the stamped cover on the newer engines.

As for camshafts have you called any of the cam companies for a recommendation? I called crane for my 351w and they spec'ed something I would have picked myself. I ran it in my computer simulator and it made a little more power than the cams I was looking at. Another option would be to call Ed Curtis at Flow Tech Induction. I have not used him myself, but he has a pretty good rep on corral.net.

I have aftermarket valve covers that should clear most any rocker arm setup now so that should be a problem. Thanks for the tip about Ed Curtis at Flow Tech Induction, I will give him a call. I have talked to several people that do the American Iron seen to see what they recommend. Crane isn't that far from me and I had planned on calling them tomorrow but will also call Comp Cams and a few others as well. I was surprised howmany of them are running the B303 and E303 cams by Ford as well. The engine builder for Kenny Brown is who recommended the Lanati 15014 cam to me. Thanks for the tips, Dawg
