Ford Motorsport Cobra clutch on 90 LX 5.0

Has anyone had any experience with the Ford Motorsport "Cobra" clutch on a

1990 LX 5.0. After 94000 miles, the original one is about to give up the ghost. Just a daily driver, no racing.

Thanks.

I've had a couple of them. They're rather stiff. I'd recommend looking in a different direction if it's just a daily driver.

Steve Race car on the way.

The Cobra clutch is not stiff. It is stock pedal feel......

I have ordered 2 Cobra clutches from D&D Performance out of Wixom, MI for $149 over the past 10 years. Excellent clutch for a daily driver.

I do have a new factory Ford clutch cable and a firewall adjuster too.

There is a King Cobra clutch that you may be referring to and it isnt stiff either. Stay away from the FMS HD clutch and the Spec clutches if you want stock pedal feel. I've had them too.

And yes, I remember what the stock clutch felt like. I bought my 89 GT new...... :-)

Thanks to the 3 gentlemen who replied. to my post this evening. I've had the LX since I got it new in April 90. All in all it has been the best car I've ever had. Can't say the same about the Taurus I bought 3 months earlier. We finally dumped that POS a couple of years ago and bought her an upscale car after the salesmen at Worthington Ford in Long Beach, CA treated us like shit when we went looking for a new car. I've got one more car left in my working life which certainly could be an '05 Mustang but until then I have to keep ole faithful going. Maybe 20 years from now it'll be worth a mint like the 67 Dodge R/T I'm restoring. Sorry guys, I grew up in a Mopar family.

What's wrong with keeping your pony running strong and restoring an R/T at the same time?

I'm working on a ricer project on the side. Then again, I'm trying to capitalize on it... not pretend I have a fast car. Actually, if I get the one I want, it probably will be quick enough. ;-)
