Ford's New Cobra

Nope, not the Cobra Mustang, but the real deal. The two-seat Ford Cobra will get the green light. It's unvieled tonight at the Detroit auto show.

First, the new GT, then the new Mustang, and now the Cobra. Can life get any better...?

Sure can! I could hit the lottery and be able to by all these nifty toys and a stable to keep them in.

Get the green light ? Hardly, it's a concept ! No word on it being produced. Would be wrong for Ford to have the Mustang Cobra AND the shelby Cobra... unless... their are talking about the mustang Shelby Cobra based on the 05 platform...(if there would be such a thing)

I am always sceptical >Nope, not the Cobra Mustang, but the real deal. The two-seat Ford

Ford executives insist the Cobra is only a concept for now, but hardly discourage the notion that it will eventually go into production. "We showed the GT as a concept, and we built it," Mays said. "We showed the Mustang, and we built it. We're showing the Cobra, and you can take it from there."

I don't know... sounds like it's a done deal to me.

Back in the 60's they had Cobra Jet Mustangs and Shelby Cobras. I don't see a problem.

You're probably right with those numbers; however, I think when the big wigs are saying bank on it, I think it's safe to say we'll see a new Cobra.

Patrick, you've got to take off the rose-colored glasses. ;)

The GT is an awesome car, but it might as well be a concept because it's virtually unavailable.

Shelby is a washed-up has-been who's looking to cash in one more time. That whole article was hype, and the Cobra is a dream.

I'll agree with you on the next Mustang - it's fabulous!

When did the Ford "big-wigs" ever say you could bank on it? All it could ever be is another toy for the rich... and even they will have to keep a passenger in the car to help read the gauges.

Shelby should do as old soldiers do...fade away.

I guess I missed the original post. Ford is showing a new "Cobra"? Is this another "living legends" car based on the original Cobra, like the next gen mustang and the recent T-bird? Or are we talking about a next gen Mustang Cobra? Gotta link to a pic?

Yeah, a new Cobra Cobra, not a Mustang Cobra. That'd be cool, but I still think I like the FFR kits, if only for their affordability and the fact that you can put them together yourself. :)

The only pics, which don't show much of anything, were here:

I could live with it (the 600 HP aluminum V-10 helps), but I think I still like the orginal's looks better. Looks to me like they forgot to finish the rear end, the *one side* most people will be getting a good look at. :)
