Friday the 13th

Going on vacation tomorrow. Wanted to take CFrog to upstate New York, but it's recently developed a rather spongey brake pedal. Today I'm told that it's not the pads, not the master cylinder, but a leaking part which is discontinued and unavailable at the dealership. (I'll know more when I go to pick the car up at the service station.)

TFrog is still suffering from a worsening heater core, so that's out of the question.

Looks like we'll be taking my wife's Escape. There goes MY vacation.

Considering the weather you'll be getting, the Escape is probably the best choice. Charley's headed right for your front door.

Hell, that's exactly the kind of weather that I like to drive in. A little rain, a little wind, and a healthy digicam - sounds like fun to me!

The sun is coming out! Look at that...

Turns out, it's only the brake proportioning valve. Hell, I don't need to scrounge around junkyards (especially when I've got Musttanguy out there) - my Mustangs Unlimited catalogs lists two of them, each at only $69.95. I'll get one of those, some new PowerSlots and performance pads, and CFrog'll stop as well as TFrog.

But I'm still trying to find a competent mechanic who is actually willing to invest the bay time and labor to replace TFrog's heater core... Until then, I'll keep getting misty.

By the time it hits PA/NJ it'll be pretty mild, but still nasty stuff. It just hit Sanibel and Captiva with 140mph winds. Not nice at all.
