I think they all run on regular gas except the Cobra.

Highest you can get here is 101 octane racing fuel from Exxon (or Phillips

66, I forget). It costs $2.99/gal too! While... 87 is $1.28/gal right now, 89 is about $1.35/gal & 91 is about $1.42/gal... just so you can see the difference =).

best in central cal I know of is the standard 91 octane which is running about 1.80 in my area. Every time i fill up i feel like i'm sticking in the garden hose and filling the tank with water :(

sounds like you got a problem somewhere. They all should be able to run on 87 octane. Did you ever check the fuel pressure ? Dirty sensors ? clogged fuel filter ? bad fuel pump ? Or maybe there are a lot of deposits in the engine. Try running some water (slowly) into the intake to steam it out.

Are you running a K&N? Maybe it's "oiled" your MAF. Even if you are not using a K&N it might be worthwhile to spray off the MAF wire with residueless brake cleaner. My Explorer used to ping a lot - I sprayed the MAF and disconnected the battery to reset the computer and it hasn't pinged in a long time.

Lucky you dont live in the UK really ...... The UK average price per gallon of 97 Octane is£3.69,which in dollars terms is $6.18. Bear in mind though that a US Gallon(3.8 litres) is 20% less in volume than a UK Gallon(4.5 litres),so for a US Gallon at UK prices you would be paying about $4.95/gal !!!! I don't think thats the most expensive country in the world for gas prices, but its pretty damn close.I think its the mlost expensive country in Europe. Most of that, about 75% is tax. No wonder the old Mini's were so popular at 50mpg,and its easy to see wh ythere are so many small cars in UK.

that's what's so darn outrageous--the freakin' tax! But then you do get socialized mecicine there which we don't, so we pay for our HMOs. Also you may get decent gas compared to the water we get here in Calif. Otherwise, pretty much the same thing here in, taxwise. As i recall, the taxes are over 50% of the price. Even worse, they're a percentage, so the higher the gas costs, the higher the tax is pushed.
