Getting 110 miles to the gallon (News 8 Austin)

Colors?

I see that this article about the 110mpg Mustang has been picked up all over creation. Ergo, ipso facto, it must be true.

True, your quotes don't change colors like the others do.

I see colors and no colons. OE with QuoteFix. I know, I know. IJDGAS.

This was not accomplished by an inventor sitting in his basement. It was the result of a lot of compicated engineering and while it accomplished the feat, it was not practical for general use.

Again, not a guy sitting in his garage. This was a multi-million dollar effort. I certainly beleive that a private group can and will launch manned craft into space. Although the current the current private plans for lanuching manned craft into space is more like a super expensive up and down amusement park ride - not a real manned space flight effort.

Again, not a garage inventor. A multi-million dollar effort.

And which garage inventor is leading this charge? Billions are being spent on batteries and other componets needed to make electric cars pratical. Don't hold your breath waitign for some guy to solve the problems in his garage.

No. I betting he can't do either. I think peopel are more likely to beleive big lies than small ones. If he had claimed his miacle Mustang could get 40 mpg and had 300 hp peopel would have either have ignored him, said so what, my uncle can do that, or said he was a crack pot. Instead he told a completely outrageous lie, and News 8 showed up top proclaim the end of the energy crisis - well, as soon as this guy just turns a couple of more screws and gets his patents issued. Wanna bet he has even applied for a patent(s)?

Agreeded.

engine and says his 1987 Ford Mustang will get 110 miles to the gallon.

it's a simple math trick! He converted his car to E85... so he is only counting the 15% gas when he calculates his MPG... in one of the articles he even talks about "equivalent" MPG... so he is getting 110 MPG of GAS not E85.. and actually if you do the math that way most E85 cars to better!

Well, at least we agree on something. :0)

The activities mentioned were not done in a basement on the cheap. They were not intended to be identified as such. The activities were cited as things humans have done (perhaps with the help of advanced alien civilizations) starting with just an idea. A lot of inventing comes as unplanned/unexpected side developments. Anathesia was a good example.

Then you have the bicycle. Someone invented it, and probably not with big money in an R&D facility. Then along comes someone else who drags one into his garage and figures out how to motorize it. Again, not with a lot of funding and a fancy lab.

You can go back through history and see where this has been the case. Even early man, after the spear was developed, came up with the atlatl which improved throwing distance and power.

We'd still be walking if someone hadn't come up with the idea of a way to control a critter while riding it... or a way to sit on it without having your cojones driven up through your brainpan. :0) and I'm rather certain, those weren't accomplished with R&D funding.

Apparently the problem lies with your Thunderbird with cox news server account as you had no problem responding to me on your other account.

If this seems to be such an insurmountable problem for you just add me to your kill file and be done with it.

modern engine and says his 1987 Ford Mustang will get 110 miles to the gal= lon.

You are correct, however, the actual mileage for E85 converts to about

77 mpg. The "equivalent" in MPGe refers to the energy produced when a fuel is burned, not the volumetric ratio of petroleum product to non- petroleum product. It takes about 1.43 gallons of E85 to get the same energy from a gallon of gasoline.

Heck, if he got a Ford 5.0L to get 30 mpg in the city and make great power, that'd be pretty cool to me. Anything more than that is gravy ;).

You use Thunderbird on two accounts. Gill uses Thunderbird. And no one else has the problem but you two? What's the common denominator.

Or, maybe it's really 6.0 mpg. 110 in binary = 6 decimal. ;-)

It certainly sounds like a Thunderbird problem.

:>You seem to be ignoring that point.

Au contraire. I've said all along it's your problem and it's a problem with your software, in this case Thunderbird.

:>You sound like Cox tech support.

They told you the same thing? So stop whining at me.

:>Th colons in your replies makes Thunderbird not change the color of the quotes. :>It's not just me and it's not *my* machine,

The more you keep talking the more it sounds like a Thunderbird problem, yet somehow the problem is supposed to be mine.

:>it's partially Agent with the colons added :>and partially Tbird not recognizing the quote.

:>I had no idea you would take it so personally.

Then you must be stupid. You addressed me personally and specifically and asked if I was inconveniencing you on purpose. But of course I'm not to take that personally...

I've been following this amusing boxing match from the beginning and I have to tell you WindsorFox, you really need to throw in the towel now and lose gracefully with some of your dignity intact, otherwise Czepiel is probably going to end up pulling your pants down below your ankles right before she puts your lights out in the next round. You started this street fight with someone who wasn't looking for any trouble with you and you shouldn't get angry now that she planted a foot in your nut sack.

Well good for you. I hope you'll sleep well tonight.

You're having a problem with your newsreader. You can fix it. You can ignore it. Or you can use a newsreader which doesn't have the problem. I will continue to post as I have always done oblivious to your plight. I suggest you grow up and move along.
