Hmm, I suspect that the head-unit is very similar to the one that they have been using all along, if not the same. The upgrades are in speakers & amps, or so I thought. I've never ever had a problem with my Mach 460.

Are you talking about Mustang GT or Ford GT. Not clear from your post.

Lot's of problems with this. Read people even had it replaced and the new one does it one the way home. Most are now waiting for ford to come up with fix before having it replaced because they don't want their dash ripped apart several times. Still waiting for mine

Now there is a man who knows his trivia. Especially since Ten Years After was never that big to begin with. Excellent social commentary song.

Oh, what fun. Well, it doesn't happen ALL that often, and I'll wait until the first major service if it's still intermittent.

I imagine this Shaker 1000 sound system is an option. If so, how much does it cost? Also, what type of system comes standard?

Got that right. In fact, that tune was their only top 40 hit.

Of course, my favorite TYA song is "I'm Goin' Home" - the one on their

2nd album 'Undead' (1968). BTW, I bought that album new when it came out. That was back in the days where you could buy either mono or stereo albums.

Trivia question # 2: What band put out the first stereo 45 in the top

40? I think I know the answer...

If your car starts talking to you like the dog did to Don Johnson in that movie, we'll want to hear all about it.

I was never a big 45's guy so ya got me, but I think it might have been the Beach Boys. My first album was Grand Funk Railroads first album "On Time". My second was the Red Album Grand Funk, release the same year. To me they were my ultimate "live" band until I saw Godsmack on their first nationwide tour.

In about 1973/4 I went to see Grand Funk at the Spectrum in Philly. That night everything that could go wrong was going wrong. Mark Farner broke a string and the crowd was really started to get pissed and started booing. He caught a case of the ass and asked if any MoFo out there thought they could do a better job with a broken string they were more then welcome to come up & try. A hush feel over the crowd and a mummer which increased to a roar as it became obvious that someone was walking up towards the stage. His back was to the majority of the audience, but there was this weird look on Farner's face. The guy grabbed the guitar from Farner and began to play the opening licks to Layla, well hells bells ain't that old slow hand himself playing one string short. After about 30 seconds he handed the guitar back and the great hunt was on to fond out which club Clapton was going to be playing in that night as he was infamous for walking into a Philly club, talking to the manager about playing and then having the place shut down with who ever was in, in. Once he started no one else was allowed in. Ah the good old days. Couple similar stories from my days in the 80's in the Bay area. A lot of Bay area bands liked to try out new material in local clubs. That was where I first ever heard Huey Lewis & the News. About a year later their album broke through.

When did Billboard put out its first record sales chart?

My first concert was Grank Funk at the Baltimore Convention Center in the early 70s. The second was a Santana warming up for Clapton! Ah, those were the days...

Cool stuff. I recall hearing the story about Farner and Clapton. ZW, interesting that you were there for that.

My first "concert" was at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ back in 1970. I couldn't drive at the time, so my Mom dropped my buddies and me off at the show and picked us up later. It was "safe" because it was on a local college campus.

The Allman Brothers Band played on the stage in the gym and I stood about 8 feet from Duane Allman and Dicky Betts. The stage was about 4 feet high, so I could almost reach out and touch them. This was before they broke big time, so they were still nobodys.

Being a high school junior and a wannabe rock star at the time, my mouth just hung open in awe watching those guys wail. BTW, during 'Whipping Post, Betts' amp blew up and he walked off stage all pissed. Duane carried the whole song himself along with the band. Awesome beyond words.

I doubt I could even list all of my concerts as I used to be in a heavily altered state during my attendances. I do remember enjoying Pink Floyd. ELP, ELO, Led Zepplin and oh so many more over the years. They built an Amphitheater here a couple of years ago and we get some pretty good acts. Ozfest a couple of times. Black Sabbath & Ozzy, God Smack three times (made everyone) and even Rush last year, which of course was a major rush as they are my overall most favorite band.

Speaking of 10 Years After, I saw them perform as openers for Uriah Heap. All I recall about the concert was a massive wall of noise...

Congrats on the new car John. The Torch Red is amazing - definitely looks fast when it's sitting still!

Reading the web page about your rock band, I found that we have a lot in common. Haha! I'm within a couple years of your age, play a black Strat, love the same bands you like, have a 17-year old musician son (drums), and best of all, I am Mustang FREAK as well!

I ordered an '05 GT on Dec 30 - still waiting for a build date, but that's okay since there's still a ton of melting snow here in CT. I knew the options I wanted right away - the 5-speed Premium GT with the Interior Upgrade, the standard Bullitt wheels, and the alarm. The hardest choice for me was the color. I've already had two red GTs, so was thinking of a change, and I originally ordered the Satin Silver. But I was never really thrilled with that color and it bugged me big-time for the next couple of weeks. Then a co-worker bought a Satin Silver V6 and I was looking at it in the parking lot every day that week. No offense to Satin Silver owners, but that color is really dull... Compared to every other silver car in the lot (granted they are nice cars like Volvos, BMWs, Audis, Infinitis, etc.) the Mustang silver looks like a flat gray. You can't even tell that it's metallic paint from more than 10 feet away or so.

So I went out at lunch to see some colors in person at a dealer who had 4 Mustangs on the lot. He had a Redfire, Torch Red, White, and Yellow. I loved the Torch Red, but that was my second choice... the Screaming Yellow really was screaming! :-) Called up my salesman right away and changed the color to yellow. I have a lot more peace of mind now. And yes, I'm getting the car for MSRP, even though the dealer has had $3K markups on every GT he's had in his lot.

Anyway, congrats again on the new car! I didn't notice - did you post a link to any pictures of her?

John, where was the build sheet?

There was a thread about that over on the Mustang Source forum, and no one could find their build sheets.

The Shaker 500 is standard on the Premium GTs. Comes with subwoofers in the doors. The Shaker 1000 is a $1300 option. It's the same stereo, except that it adds two subwoofers in the trunk and an additional 500W amp to power the subs.

On the Deluxe GT, it's a standard single CD player with no subwoofers and 5" x 7" speakers. Not really sure of the details.

John, I already told ya - bid on some of the standard '05 Bullitts on Ebay. It's a lot better looking wheel, IMO, and you get the nice Pony logo as well! What are you waiting for? You've been complaining about the wheels since you got it... ;-)
