Now that I've slept it off...

Got to sleep late. Took the new Escape over to the hose-and-go and spent $10.00 in quarters making it look all nice and shiny. (We had to take this one over to Thanksgiving dinner, since we were picking up mother-in-law on the way. She's in her mid-eighties and has a much easier time climbing UP into the Escape, than trying to get UP out of a low-slung sedan like the Mystique. And those side-bars are a godsend.)

But, between cleaning up the Escape and becoming the Nannamobile, I had a chance to take the convertible out and tool around top down - it was in the mid-50's and sunny here. The rain held off until the wee hours of Friday.

Of course. And I use it every time I wash one of the Mustangs. But we're talkin' the Escape here - I took it to the hose-and-go so I could hose-and-go.

See, with the Mustangs, washing is more of a bonding thing. With the Escape, I just wanted to blow off the big pieces, clean the glass, maybe give it a light once-over, and get the hell out.

But I can't... It's a brand new vehicle. I ended up doing a careful walk-around with soap, then an anal rinse and even a bit of whatever it is that they call "wax". Started to drive off, but I just had to stop and get one of those Big-Ass Wipes, to drive off the car. (Hate water spots.)

So my $2.50 "quickie on-the-run" turned into a $10.00 complete off-site show-tuning. Couldn't stop myself.

And, while I was there, I got to watch some idiot kid with what looked like his first car grab the floor brush off the wall and go at it. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER use the scrubber on your car! I wouldn't do that even to a sport-ute.
