Hurricanes Really Blow, Literally

Batten down the hatches, Florida! Looks like [Hurricane] Dennis the Menace is going to make last year's [Hurricane] Ivan the Terrible look like a summer breeze.

Yup. We sure are early this year. Hope that Cuba slows it down a bit, but first up in the USA is Key West. We should get a nasty weekend out of it over on the SE side, but you might get more, Patrick. Stay safe!

Joe,

We're not riding it out this year. This time we're going to batten everything down/board it up and head to a shelter for a good night's sleep. We'll worry about the aftermath after it passes.

Good for you. Although I've now heard that it might go down to a cat

Tornados sneak up much quicker on you. And if one hits you, who cares what other damage occurred? With hurricanes, at least you have a few days to prepare.

Here, in Tennessee...scary??? From a Hurrycane?

Gol dang!. I suppose I could park some rocks or old tires on the tin instead of just leavin it leanin against them tree limbs like we usually do I spose I could even put a bored up agin the piece of plywood we use for a door. OH OH OH! I know, I'll park the tractor inside sowze that it holds it down!

I am pretty sure it will be ok. If not, the damn thing is insured.

Hey...

We in Philly thank you.

For hurricanes coming up the coast, we have New Jersey as a buffer. For those coming up from the Gulf, we have Tennessee, where (hopefully) those things will blow themselves out.

You want safe? No one even knows where Philadelphia is.

Appreciated, Kate, but I'm not leaving this new place. (I had so much fun doing my "forensic gardening" last weekend that I didn't go anywhere. And didn't want to.)

By the time Dennis gets here at the end of next week, we'll probably need the rain.
