Patrick opined in news: snipped-for-privacy@posting.google.com:

When it starts out:

"In the minds of the motoring public, the Mustang is just a thinly-veiled race car. "

I have an instant cynical view ... as borne out by the "wing"

First step: remove wing.

2nd step remove rice-boy fog lamps used as headlamps. Put in stock units. 3rd step restore stock grill and front facisa... or anything that doesn't show off cooling fans rice-boy style. 4th step. Put fog lamps back in front facisa where they belong.

Do that, and it will be a decent looking car.

Only thing they NEED to do with that car is lose the "Boy Ricer" airplane wing (NO RICE) on the back of it.

Wonder why they went with a 5.0?

Yeah, everyone babbled "rice" about the 2000 Cobra R's wing too. Then it actually used it and everyone shut up :). BTW, I guess this car

is rice too despite the factthat it's one of the most sophisticated Mustangs on the planet and is anactual race car.

I'll take either car. In a minute. Wing and all since I can't go nearly as fast without it ;)

My opinion.

First of all, while I do drive Hondas (on my third and last Civic), I do not consider myself to be a ricer by anyone's definition (which is one reason I buy Hondas because they don't include factory rice as standard equipment - ironic, isn't it)?

If the goofy looking rear spoiler on that brute Mustang is functional, I say leave it on. If not, take if off. I like the front for the most part. The visible double cooling fans reminds me of the Shelby Cobra.

It's not the OHV 5.0 of the Fox generation and before... it's the cammer

5.0... 3V OHC if I remember right, either that or a 4V. Pretty fun toy. They're just using the 5.0 name, which I thought they should have been doing all along. The 5.0 badge became quite an icon for a while... it'll make a return in some form I'm sure.

The page you gave fails to mention why it has such a sophisticated gear box... the driver has no use of her legs. She's wheelchair bound.

If you read closely and look at the pics, you would know that the clutch and gearshifts are handled by buttons on the steering wheel.

My 14-year old daughter took one look and said "I don't like it. That wing on the rear looks like a riceboy thing" without even a hint to prompt her.
