Lens removal on 87 taillight

I would like to remove a taillight lens from the assembly. I have an assembly with a good lens and another with a good housing. I'd like to take the two lenses off the housings and make one good taillight assembly. How are they removed? I read one post that said they pop off, but I don't want to risk breaking something if I try to pry it off.

Stare at it and will them to come off.

Or if you don't have psycho-kinetic powers, then do what the previous poster had said. They just pull off. Bear in mind do it slowly and carefully but they are pretty much held on by black goo. StuK

I read a post on eBay that the seller said they were selling a lens that included the gasket and clips. If it's only "goo", what kind should I buy to put one back together?

I've never actually had to purhase any so I can't tell you a specific product, but it seems to be a black butyl product similar to windshield sealant so that would be a good place to start your search, maybe try an auto glass place or body shop supply house. Any time I've swapped a lens I just pushed the new one on with the existing sealant and it worked. HTH STuK

Yeah, there are clips but they aren't exactly vise grip tight! Glad you got 'em figured out. StuK
