Ping...Kate

Since you're moving to Tennesee, I have to ask - back in Sept, you were having trouble with your boss. Did you quit the job, tell her to screw herself, get fired or what?

It's none of my business, but what the hell, we're a large, dysfunctional family here, so I'll ask anyway.

Sure as hell beats the 'Horsepowered' thread....

Oh... that was really screwed up. She F***ed me! Rather than tell you the whole little nitty picky story it boils down to this:

My hubby and I went to Cabo for a week to celebrate our 10th anniversary, when we got back there was a letter of termination in my 'vacation mail' at home.

The witch won out, but in the long run I see it as everything happens for a reason, and now we are making a spetacular change. Who knows maybe the Podunk TN Times will need a graphic artist... or MAYBE I'll just buy a fixer upper (been looking at one in particular) and spend my time playing with the house and playing with my toys. Either way, it's a great feeling to know we are finally leaving here. Escrow closes on the 26th, we will prolly hit the road Thanksgiving day.

Katy - Let me get this straight or atleast line me out. You are picking up your family and moving to another state. I am fine with that part. My question is, do you have a house lined up, apartment, something???? I must have missed that. Because in an earlier post you alluded to the fact that you didn't really know.

Hey Scott.. Well hon, ya see, it's like this.

Our kids are all grown and moved out, now we are running away from them, as far and fast as we can go. Hubby is retiring, so I figure I will too, though we have a small business planned when we get there.

We sold our house here in central CA, it closes on the 26th The movers will take our stuff and put it in storage for two months. In the meanwhile hubs and I will be acting like 20 yeaar olds again.. footloose and fancy free.

We have a pile of about 28 homes in Tennessee, Arkansas, West Virginny and North Carolina that we plan to look at. We are going to spend some time exploring the region and demographics and then pick a place and buy it. In actuality though, we have found an area that we like (as much as we can without ever being there) in central TN. It's in the Columbia area. There are several houses there that are very nice and well priced... one in particular is a repo that needs some fixing up (sheetrock, flooring etc) but is a fairly new 2600 s.f. home for not a heck of a lot of money ($144k asking price) compared to the rest of the properties in the area, and it's a fandamncy neighborhood too. For now, that is pretty much a big consideration for us, sweat equity. We are good at that sort of thing having done it before.

So, in answer to your question... um...ya have a room ya wanna rent for a couple of months?? No kids.. no pets! LOL ok ok... my eldest is cat-sitting, we will fly them both out there when we land in our own house but then the KID has to go back home.

*grin*

Kate - I think that is great. I hope to be able to do something along those lines later in life. I do have a spare room, but a nagging wife and a two year old come with it. And if you running from that, I wouldn't stop here. Maybe Don has a room?

But to give you an idea of housing in OK. You won't find 2600 sqft anywhere near new for that money. My 2100 sqft was $180g. But that is brand new also.

I do have a spare garage for Shug, if you need.

Good Luck

You trying to get me into trouble?

I do know of a place here in Oklahoma that is for sale. It would be an absolute steal. 3 acres developed. 3 horse barn, with two sheds. Private road access and main road access also. Double wide trailer, almost completely remodeled (you would have to see it to believe it). The trailer is huge. Front paddock area, nice grass, completely fenced, good paved roads, 15 minutes from two different towns. Well water, propane gas (large tank), electric. 3 bedrooms, 2.75 bath. the home was recenetly re-leveled.

Anyhow, this place is perfect for some wanting to finish the remodel and have horses, dogs, cats, etc. If not, the current owner would be willing to rent the stables/tack room back from the new owner. So you could be making money as soon as you buy it.

I think the place could be had for about 65k. I could be wrong though.

It is off of Waterloo Road. North on Douglas for 7/10 of a mile. 13600 S. Douglas Blvd.

Thanks Don, sounds like a steal, but I don't do mobiles or modulars... and I need a SHOP!

So I can break my car and put her back together again during the winter.

On another note.. My realtor ask what I was going to do with my "California Car" when I went out there. I gave him a stern look and told him: "I'll carry that bitch on my back if I have to get her there, but I'm sure as hell not getting rid of her"

I simply 'splained to my hubby... that I am going to get my own 4x4 when we get out there.... Do they make the lightening in a 4x4 ??? *WEG* Or maybe... I cound drive HIS truck when it's icky, and get a lightening anyway.. yea.... the girl is thinkin now! Kate

Think what kind of shop you could build with what you would have left over. Oh yeah, you get a free cherry picker (engine lift) with the deal. It is the large style that you drive a car underneath.

You could get you the F-150 4x4 and then supercharge it.

He said it had a 3 horse barn hon. :-) Should be able to stable a Mustang or two there. But yeah, if we ever move and I get to build, I'm building a pit in my garage so I can get under our vehicles rather than mess with ramps...

So that is were your daughter got her 'mustang killing' from? chip of the ole block so to speak... *ducking*
