Any suggestions on how I can safely remove the decal that my dealer so

I know in Texas, if you get your windshield replaced, the place that does it has this spray that will loosen up the glue on the decal so that it can be removed safely and then placed onto the new one when it is installed.

If you live in a state that has windshield stickers.. registration or inspections stickers.. contact a company that does windsheild replacing and see if you can have them use their stuff to remove the decal for you.

I am sure someone else might have a way for you to do it on your own, but off the top of my head, that was the only thing I could thing of.

A hairdryer and some GooGone should do the trick. Try the GooGone in an inconspicuous place first (like the underside of the trunk lid), but it shouldn't harm the paint.

Hey Peter... Do a search, this was covered pretty carefully about a week or two ago. Personally, I'd drive it right back down there, and tell them to take it off, or pay you for advertizing on your vehicle.

Hey Pete,

It's very simple to remove.........if you have access to a heat gun, apply the heat to it and one the edge lifts a bit peel it away slowly......if it stops removing apply more heat.....(not tooo close to the paint and not for long) once the sticker is removed....don't worry about the gum residue...........now wait for the paint to cool and then just use some mild degreaser and a soft cloth and it should take the residue right off.......

They will also come off with a cheap hair dryer. Use the same method listed before and they a small shot of WD40 on a rag will remove the residue.

That's so true. Some states have a 3-day grace period to return the purchase, so that can be a bargaining chip.

But the best thing is to have them state on the spec sheet, up front, that no dealer decals of any sort will be applied, even if it's a car in the lot. If they say that it's their policy to put them on, make sure you tell them that your policy and their's are in conflict and that you're concerned about their customer service. If they won't bend, tell them you'll accept a dealer's tag holder, which you can easily ditch. If they STILL won't bend, f*ck 'em; they're out to f*ck you, right? They're probably not going to honor warranty work, either. Walk out of there with peace of mind.

The prime rule for dealing with car people? Don't be wimpy. You're the buyer, it's your money, get what you want. At the very least, make a list of what you DON'T want before you even go shopping.

Insist on your choices, within reason, and never take less. If they won't deal, go someplace else. A few hours, a few days, or even a few weeks up front is well worth a few years of regret later.

Bill, why'd you go back to the same dealer for the '94 after they did that to you the first time with the '93?
