It's your car and you can do whatever you want to it.... but I personally would not do it. Even if you leave an original radio in the dash, you can still tuck the other away in the glove box, under dash, etc. Personal opinion is to get one of the avaiilable radios from a Mustang parts vendor that will handlea CD changer. Back in 1970 I added an 8 track player in my 65 Mustang FB and I always hated the "chuh-chunk" of an 8 track changing tracks in the middle of a song.

No. (shudder)

Buy one of the whiz bang super duper things that hide in the trunk with a remote control.

Sorry sounded like a troll question to me. Not to many people want to add an 8-track to vehicle, let alone hack up a classic car to do so.

Sorry, but I';ve got to ask -- What on earth would compel you to put an 8-track in any car, let alone a classic that didn't come with it?

The base was fantastic. We loved the country and the people.

Weused to have to wait at the end of the runway for planes in and out before crossing. East of the base was a manorhouse which was the officer's club (it's spacious lawns are where they held the Easter Egg hunts :0)

#1 The Crescent in Prestwick was the boarding house we lived in when we first arrive and when we were leaving. Mrs Mac ran the place. Heard many years later that her German Shepard had gone nuts and killed her. Went to Scout cap up in the highlands. That was great. And used to camp on the lands of a titled gentleman south of Ayr.

In Troon, we lived in the home of an old guy who had been in the Army posted to India. And we'd go downtown to a fish and chips shoppe (real newspaper and malt vinegar!). Can't recall the address, but my dad might. In those days, the coal, pink parafin, and milk were delivered to the house. The bakery truck, veggie man, etc came by.

My best friend was David McAllister of Troon.

Dad bought an old Ford Anglia.... looked like a mini version of an old

49 Ford... with the pop out turn signal arms. :0)

If you happen down that way, whatever you can think of to shoot would be appreciated. I've lived in a lot of countries, but Scotland is the one I'd most like to go back to. Heck, I still recall the Scottish National Anthem... "Scotland the Brave" :0) Not bad since I have not been there since 1961. Guess it was the people who made it so memorable.

Good point...I will have to think about what you say .......what would you recommend ? remember the AM medium wave in Europe is 9Khz steps not 10Khz like the USA so it can't be digital tuning.....I have ruined the AM medium wave radio that came with the car trying to fix it so I am a bit stuck. :~( if you guys could look into this for me and give me some links to the best deals for say a manual tune radio/cassette that would fit without cutting the metal dash ? ...thanks jim (and I will stick the NOS 8track on ebay)

I'm a Scot (okay, well, mostly), and I married an Irish girl (I have a particular weakness for redheads, it seems). She keeps talking about taking a trip over to Ireland to explore her roots.

Whenever the subject comes up, I say she can drop me off in Scotland, and we'll meet up afterwards in London to compare notes.

But I always wondered, why were the big Hollywood blockbuster movies about great Scots of yore filmed in Ireland? Is Scotland all that unsightly, or did Ireland's tax structure attract them more?

My 89 did not come with an AM/FM/ Cassette, just a radio. It was added at the dealer. My Thunderbird had no radio when I bought it almost

30 years ago, I found an 8 track to put in it and I have a Muntz HI-FI 4 track cartridge player. No it didn't come with the car, but it is exactly something that would have been added in the late 60's.

Oh so it's not an original 8 track. Try eBay for one place.

Because Ireland still has wide expanses of grass areas accessible for filming large battle scenes, and the costs, or so I hear, are lower. Or it might be the pubs. :0)

While some will dis the company.... Custom Auto Sound (on the net) radios are produced in Germany and they have a switch between Euro and US. I can't recall whether the switch is user friendly or must be set at the factory when the prep for shipment.

Did you get the Reverb? I have a reprint of the 65 Mustang Owners Manual and in the back are options. I added the 8 Track to my first

65 Mustang. Can't recall for sure, but I think it was a Lear. Added a pair of speakers as well.

Well I guess it all depends on what your needs are. I know very few people who actually listen to AM radio here in the states anymore. I bet its been decades since I've personally listened to an AM station so I would/could care less.

Now if you are attempting to restore it to original you might have a problem, but if it is just a daily driver you are building I would go with one of these

and then hide moderninputs like a CD/Changer or MP3 player for my music source(s). Maybe even a satellite receiver as well. Never thought I would pay for radio until my new car came with free XM and I'm loving it. The only downside I can see is you won't be able to pickup European AM stations. I have no idea if the is a good or bad thing.

For me, but I'm not you, it would be the perfect solution for original looks & modern functionality.
