Three rare sightings

I had three interesting car sightings today. First, at the corner of Oakwood & Rotunda here in Dearborn I was waiting at a light and a M-plate Ford GT pulled up next to me. Nice car. It looks much lower (only looks about 40 inches tall) & much smaller than in pictures & at the shows. It sounds very nice. Very elegant & crafted with a nice rumble just piercing the well mannered emission. Second, I spotted a M-plate Cadillac XLR. It's just so pretty in a patient, efficient, scrubbed sort of way. Yet, it's minimalist's hard edges maintain a certain sensual rawness. I think the new Cadillac style works much better on a long, wide, low car as opposed to the Escalde or even the CTS. Third, I happened to spot a Lincoln Blackwood. I've never seen one in person before. Damn ugly, I can see why so few were sold - manufacturing problems aside.

Sounds like my friend talking about an van with a 460 in it. He joked that it got about 8 miles per gallon regardless of what you were doing. Simple cruising on the highway? 8. In town driving? 8. Towing a house uphill?

  1. I guess the technology's stepped up some to move that number to 12... lol

You sure it was the new GT ? The old GT40 was much smaller.

I spotted a few of them here in Arizona months ago. Nice looking for now.. but I wonder how people will appreciate them if they have been around for a while. You know; some shapes of cars will never get boring, and some look interesting on introduction but get old quickly.

GT40 (MKI) was 40 inches tall, that's where they derived the name. The new GT is

44.3 inches, and it was decided not to call it the GT44 as the "Ford GT" sounded much better. Here are some other specs for the new GT and GT40; (GT / GT40)

Wheel Base (in): 106.7 / 95.3 Overall Length (in): 182.8 / 169.0 Overall Height at curb (in): 44.3 / 41.0 (MKIII for the street) Overall Width (in): 76.9 / 70.0

They can market what ever they like in regards to "special editions"..it does not mean I'll buy it.
