Will Ford Build A New Pushrod Motor?

Taken from Hot Rod Magazine:

"News reports that Ford Motor Company is working on a new V-8 to rival Chrysler's successful Hemi V-8 are accurate, if a bit premature. Ford plans a 6.2-liter engine that would launch, initially, in the F-Series pickup trucks. The 6.2 could find a home in the Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, Lincoln Town Car, and perhaps even the Mustang, but that's little more than speculation at this point. The engine is so early in its development stages that management hasn't decided whether to build an overhead-cam engine or a pushrod design. A pushrod 6.2 would make cylinder cutoff cheaper, but don't count out an OHC with cylinder deactivation."

I know Hot Rod isn't the most reliable source for future info, but I thought this was interesting news.

So who knows, Chevy has stuck with the pushrod design and Dimler Chrysler recently introduced its pushrod Hemi, maybe overheads valve really are making a comeback....
