X Plan purchase??

OK....want to order a convert for delivery around April/May.....am sure there won't be any deals for a long time.

My company does business with FoMoCo so we are eligible to buy anything Ford under the "X Plan".

I have no idea how that works - would it be a good deal (or at least, would I not get screwed so bad) ?

Thanx JC

We used that to buy my wife's Mercury a couple of years ago. You do save some money, but it's not a screaming deal. You should have a phone number to call, usually come from your company rep. When you call, they verify your eligibility and issue you a number. You take that number to the dealer, and they do the rest. What you save is a little off the price of the car, and they are not allowed to charge you for dealer prep, "processing fees", etc. We probably saved less than $2K on a Cougar. So it's nothing to sneeze at. Just like everything else, make your best deal first, then present the "Oh, by the way..."

This is my companies x-plan, I don't know if different companies have different x-plans or not.

X-Plan Pre-determined price based on Ford Employee ("A-Plan") price. The X-Plan price is noted on the dealer invoice (except for Land Rover and Jaguar)

Ford/Mercury A-Plan + 4% + $150 Lincoln A-Plan + 4% + $250 Volvo A-Plan + 2% Land Rover Invoice plus 4% of Invoice (excluding Regional Advertising Group fee and destination & delivery fee). Jaguar Invoice plus 4% of Invoice (excluding Advertising Association Fee and destination & delivery fee).

The people doing the Pony Drive have a deal with X-Plan pricing now. Which is supposed to be just under invoice For a v6 vert invoice is supposed the be between 21K and 22K based on model. For the V8 it is just shy of 30K.

The bad news is that it is up to the dealer to accept X Plan or not. Right now, very few will, not even D Plan from their employees as they can sell the precious few 05's they get in at sticker or higher to their waitlisted customers.

Please do no do it this way. You will save yourself and the dealership a lot of time and effort by merely identifying yourself as an x plan customer.

Since x-plan customers are allowed to see invoices, why go through the hassle of stroking yourself and some poor salesman for two hours when it could have been done in 15 minutes.

thing is, X Plan is probably the only deal that will be available on Mustangs for a long while (I think X Plan is net invoice plus 4% + $250).....at present there are no incentives and dealers seem to be getting invoice or over.

makes you wonder......my brother just bought a leftover 2004 Marquis Ultimate......$32500 sticker.........got 13% off sticker and $5000 rebate....out the door (with an old trade) for $22,500.......or about 10 grand less than a GT convertible is going to cost!
