300zx clutch slipping( main seal leak?)

ok i just got a 1990 z32 na 2+2 and it drives fine at first as long as you keep it moving,if you stop for too long or turn the car off and try to drive it again the clutch starts to grab less and less and then not at all and this is accompanied by a hot smell like something burning but no smoke anywhere. allso after you drive it once you have to wait like one or 2 days or else it wont grab at all. i wondered if it might be the mainseal leaking oil on to the clutch because i did notice a couple drops of oil under the car but not alot so i dunno for sure. what could this be?

Assuming the clutch is correctly adjusted (and I suspect it is), the next stop is the same: drop the tranny and have a look. Do it right after driving and slipping. If the clutch is wet, you need a new clutch and a new rear main seal. If the clutch is not wet, then just the clutch. Assess the condition of the flywheel and pressure plate in either event, and clean them weell.

Could very well be the rear main seal leaking. You should spend some time over at
