83 pulsar nx turbo

so i have this phantom problem. car runs like bat out of hell some days, total slug other days. tested alternator, found regulator bad. disconnected alt wires, car runs great. replaced alternator, run like new for 30 secs, then like crap again. had load test done, battery good, 1000 cca, alternator putting out slightly higher than normal voltage. take off battery terminal, car dies.

i sealed up all the air leaks in intake system, fixed problem temporarily. when car is cold it runs very bad, someone told me i need to reset the brain. disconnect battery overnight.

cannot find used parts anywhere for this thing, no shop will work on it and nobody has compute hookups for this old of car. is my brain fried? was told car has different coil than stock, but should that matter?

dont thinkit is fuel related, as that would cause problem all the time. exhaust smells rich. i know catalytic converter is not problem, i disconnected it. my pcv valve is kinda sticky, would this cause phantom probs?

They meant to disconect the ECU harness and replug it in.

These were the first ECCS systems and had lots of ECU failures both with this model and the 280ZX turbos. I highly recomend if you love the car to replace the electronics with something like a megasquirt, haltech or a SDS aftermarket stand alone system. Otherwise your basically fighting a losing battle that will cost more in the long run than NOT doing this now.
