I have a SE v6 Extended cab 4x4 Auto trans that is having troubles. In cold weather (Less than 40, I live in the deep South) When I put it in D, it acts like it is in neutral, move it to 2 and it acts normal, shifitng through 1 and 2. When I move it to D, it pops out of gear. After a few hudred yards, I can move it to D and it operates properly. This problem started about a year ago and has been intermitent until about 2 months ago.
4x4 operates normaly but does not improve situation.The truck has 175k miles on the motor and 110k on the trans. Supposedly trans rebuilt around 60k.
Am I about to loose my transmission? Is there something I can do by myeslf? Is there anything I can go to the Trans Guy with so that I don?t get screwed?
