!987 Nissan Van - Radiator changes in the safety recalls?

I am hoping to find someone with good knowledge of the changes made in the Nissan recalls on this van.

I have a 1987 C22 Van that has just experienced radiator failure. This vehicle has had all the recall related service related to engine compartment fires years ago. One of the recalls involved replacing the radiator, water pump, power steering pump, etc.

I bought a replacement radiator from a local radiator shop. Unfortunately, it seem to be the origional design radiator. The flow on the replacement is left to right, instead of top to bottom on the one currently in the van.

What I am trying to determine is whether this radiator will be able to fit in and operate properly with all the other recall related changes. ( aux electric fan for one) I know I will have to replace at least one hose with with a different one, but this is a small detail. I realize that the newer design would be better, but the radiator shop said no-one seems to list anything other than the origional design. I am not too concerned about the slightly lower capacity of the older design, as I live in cooler Seattle, and drive it gently.

I talked to a couple dealers, but so far haven't managed to connect with any service person with the needed knowledge. The parts departments don't seem to be able to give me any info - their books apparently don't even have pictures to help out. The part they do list is over 2X the cost of the one I got, also.

Can anyone help me out? What kind of problems will I have mounting the old design radiator?

Oh well. I returned the radiator, and went to a different shop that will make me what I need out of brass and copper for about the same as the Nissan radiator. They say it will last way longer. And they will get it to me faster than Nissan.
