Altima - reattach rear spoiler?

I've just purchased a 1997 Nissan Altima that came with the rear spolier in the trunk. The Spoiler is in perfect condition and there's no damage to the trunk lid, just a dot of sealant protecting the wiring hole. My local Nissan Dealer (Star Nissan - Chicago USA) said they couldn't reattach it. Can it be done? How? In my youth it woulda been four beers some cursing and presto we have wing :)

How was it mounted before it became unattached ?

Why is it not attached? Is there any evidence that it was ever attached? Are you sure its the right one for that car?

Some of the Nissan spoilers (e.g. The ones on the s13 240sx) mount with plastic snaps into thumb sized holes in the trunk lid, as well as a second row of screws that go though another set of smaller holes. There should be more holes in the trunk lid than just the one for the wiring.

Maybe you could get them to show you a new spoiler so you can see what it is about yours that makes it unattachable. My guess is that the mounting hardware is missing.

I'm certain it's the original, paint matches perfectly looks exactly like other Altima wings I've seen. Appears to have been mounted with large rubber pads, perhaps with adhesive? No idea how it came off!

your local auto parts store should have some kind of double sided sticky foam, give that a try i guess.
