Armada update

Just got through with a drive of an actual production Armada, #1 to be delivered to one of our local dealers. He had 3 in stock (well, waiting to be picked up by waiting buyers) and I was able to drive 2 of them. I had driven a prototype a few months ago and wanted to see the final changes the factory made before ordering mine.

The dash is different from the prototype. Still too plastic'y, but getting better. There is now a MP3/CD/? input miniplug in the lower dash for the Bose stereo, with an 'aux' button to engage it. Those with I-Pods are gonna love it. The overhead console is HUGE, full of nooks and crannies to hide stuff. The optional DVD system is cool, but overpriced. They relocated the diversity antennas to the far rear side glass on both sides and removed the rod antenna completely. Don't know how this will affect radio reception in the boonies. There is a harness/plug for a electric trailer brake included with each unit, to match the 9500 lb class III platform hitch and 7 wire plug on the rear. The BOSE actually sounds GOOD! Ride quality is better and it still goes like stink!

The SE $WD w/allroad was $43k with a sunroof and DVD. The LE with power tailgate was $45k.

I like the side window styling on the Armada. Looks a little like a late 50s, early 60s Rambler station wagon windows.

We bought an Armada last weekend. We love it. It is my wife's vehicle. It is the SE model with DVD. Rides great, accelerates well for its size, our 2 1/2 year old loves the DVD system. LOTS of room in the second row. The SE comes with bench seats for the second row. Third row has fairly typical legroom - ie intended for kids. We'll keep the third row folded down most of the time. That gives a lot of storage room.

Overhead bins are great. Not sure we'll ever use all the little storage spaces around :-) They didn't leave an unused space in the interior... Radio sounds great. My wife loves the adjustable pedals. Leather seats feel really good, and the seats adjust to the perfect fit.

When compared feature-to-feature to the Toyota Sequoia you get more for the $$$ with the Armada. We had previously looked at a Sequoia, but really love the Armada.

Awesome vehicle.

Has anyone in this group noticed an irratating resonance when driving the Armada?.. I test drove an SE (all that was available) and it had an unbearable resonance as you drove. Sort of like when you close all of the windows and open the sunroof in most cars, except all windows were shut and it didn't have a sunroof.. Another person in the Edmunds group noticed the same thing...I am looking to buy a loaded LE and am curious if this is a common problem. Thanks in advance.

Did not I here they were already planning a motor recall on the Armada? Well not recall because Nissan, USA LLC did not want it to get to that... from a radio show this past Saturday.
