fuel line replacement on 1997 sentra

I replace the fuel filter on my sentra by cutting the upper hose so I can easily twist the filter out of the lower hose. I then replace the upper hose (about 5 inches worth) with conventional SAE fuel/emission hose that I get for a dollar. I always do it this way. The parts guy tried to sell me a lengthy packaged section of fuel injector hose for $15. Is this really necessary? Like I said I have always used the other stuff and no problem. Any ideas?

It is extremely important that you use a feul line hose made for modern feul injected motors. The specification is something like SAE 30 R 9. Using the regular feul line hose that they offer at most shops is way too weak. The line will easily burst under pressure and cause a car fire.

Fuel line replacement hose on that 1997 Sentra is SAE 30R7. Is this acceptable for fuel injection?
