nissan sentra AC pressure switch removal?

I am working on a 1994 Nissan sentra where the AC is behaving erratically. After having a repair shop top off refrigerant (said it was a little low) it is still doing the same thing. Sometimes it works for weeks on end, then other times it doesn't. It may even go through spells where it will cut on/off and just blow hot air, then 5 min later is working great. All this leads me to think either the pressure switch is bad or there could be a short in the wiring related to the pressure switch.... Back to my original question. On some cars you can remove the pressure switch without discharging the AC. Is this also true on the sentra?

I'm not sure if you need to discharge the system or not, check the FSM which you can get from

Check the fan speed switch. I had the same issue but only with the highest speed. Removed the switch, cleaned the contacts and all is back to normal.

The press switch does not work that often as to fail, though it could.

Good luck.

have u ruled out the AC relay? the next time the problem occurs, unplug the AC relay, tap it with a screwdriver handle several times, plug it back in. if it works, consider replacing the relay.
