I am considering buying an xterra. Looking at the general prices on these I will be looking at 2003-2005. Also will have to part with my
2001 Maxima. As I have always valued this groups opinions, could you possibly advise me on which if any of these is a better choice than the others? Also am looking for trim level choices for this vehicle,ie;SE,LE etc. Thank you for any help you may offer.Tony C.
the 2004 and below. I would think you are best off going for the 2005.
It is possible to sometimes find a very good deal for a used 2006. There are people who lease or buy these types of vehicles, and then find that they don't like them.
Overall, in my personal view, I found the X-Terra to be very good.

The 3.3L is underpowered for the weight of that vehicle. They are slow and get poor fuel economy IMO. It's reliable enough though. It depends on what's important to you. A 3.5L Pathfinder would be a better choice, but again they are hungry at the pump.
