The paint protection the dealers try to charge you for is nothing more than a (really expensive) wax job. Wax it yourself and you will be more protected than you would have been with theirs anyway.

I have a 2002 LE. All I have done to protect it is put a ban on eating and Starbucks frozen what-cha-call-ems in it. That stuff is like glue in the perforated leather seats.

Get a stone guard for the hood. Also, I sometimes use the lower half of the Nissan bra for long trips.

I have heard/read that manufacturers recommend you wait at least 3 months before waxing a new car... related to the paint curing completely... not sure if this is just a myth or a fact... I've never bought new - so I've never really had to look into it... just thought I'd let you know.
