Re: Quest 1995 at 70K. Do I need timing belt replaced?

do the timing belt, my feeling is that you are living on borrowed time already.

Shop some of the dealerships in your area , at my dealership we charge

349.00$ parts and labor for a timing belt on any V6 Nissan engine that has one

When I was at Nissan service desk, I looked over the book and saw the

Check your manual. The quest went from a 60K belt to a 100K belt at some point... I don't know what category the '95 falls into.

That's a little steep. I think the local Nissan dealer will do one for $400 or so... a twin cam motor (like the 300zx) is around $650. Unless they are replacing the water pump too then that is a lot of money. Check some independents in your area or another dealer. Its a "stock" job so the other dealers should have a posted price that they can tell you.

If you have an independent mechanic do it, Be SURE that he knows how to set the tension on the belt PROPERLY.
