2002 Maxima hood issue

Hello Maxima fans, I am the proud owner of a 2002 Maxima SE which I bought in late 2001. It's fully loaded. The only thing that I didn't get was the nav system (I wanted the in-dash cd changer). Anyway, any of you out there having a strange hood issue. My hood since I've bought the car will flutter and bouce at high speeds. I've brought it to the dealer several times, each time they say they fix it but it comes back. I'm aware of a TSB out there and they say at the dealership that they are going by the TSB. But yet it continues.

TIA.

I have the same problem with my 2003 Maxima, which I'm sure you know is the same design as the 2002. I had a hood deflector installed when I bought it. Don't know if it does it without the deflector. I may have to try unless you don't have one...

I've tried adjusting the two rubber posts on each corner of the hood. If you unscrew them, they stick up more, putting more pressure on the hood. Not sure how much would be too much though. Like I said, maybe it's the hood deflector.

Other than this, I love the car!

I had the same issue with my 2002 GLE when new... at the first routine service I reported the problem and the dealer fixed it on the first shot.... the flutter has not returned in 15,000 miles... Tom Clark

I have a 2003, and it does the same thing. The dealer just adjust the rubber stops...the only thing is that now the hood sticks up above the front fender. I don't want the hood to be that high, but I also don't want it to shake when going down the highway either.

Too thin sheet metal on the hood! Cheap ass crap!

Why not shim or modify the latch mechanism or latch plate on hood, to bring the hood down a bit to match original location of rubber bumpers? Then it won't stick up over the fender profile. Worth a try... Good luck.\Bob
