can someone recommend a good aftermarket seat?

Love my '98 Maxima SE except for 1 thing: I don't like the seats. They're too flat - not enough thigh and lateral back support. I have the 8-way power adjustable, cloth covered seat. Can someone recommend a good replacement - one that requires a minimum of drilling/fabricating/welding to get 'em in. Web links, prices, model info appreciated. Thanks

I felt the same way until I got it adjusted to my exact liking: seat bottom all the way down, but tilted front-up/back-down to keep my knees supported, and lumbar pushed all the way forward to support my lower back. Now it's really, really comfortable.

Never buy a seat unless you can sit in it or return it if you don't like the way it feels. I find most aftermarket seats to be VERY uncomfortable and most are a pain to get them installed correctly. Have you sat in the other models of maximas of that gen to see if any of the other factory seats feel good?

Strange unless they changed something. I am over 6 feet tall and usually have trouble finding seats with good back support for a tall person, but the seats in my 95 SE are very comfortable. I adjust the rear of the seat bottom down (for autocrossing helmet clearance) and front of seat bottom up for thigh support. At one point something broke in the recliner (would not stay up), but fortunately the dealer found a used replacement for fraction of $1100 new cost.

I recently bought a used 2001 Pathfinder SE and its cloth seats are also very comfortable for me. Its 8-way adjustments are manual instead of electric (front and rear of seat bottom can be adjusted with knobs).

The seats have been reasonably comfortable for my 6'2" frame.. but I wish the wheel was telescoping because I find I am too far back due to the pedals. (5th gen)

I do wish there was more lateral support.. the car handles turns well enough, except I roll out of my seat on anything more than granny driving. Maybe someone will invent a pad or frame that can be installed around the bottom of the seat to hold your butt better...

In any case I'll bet the problem is worse with slippery leather seats. Go easy on the Armor-All !
