Newly acquired 2003

Hi All,

Just picked up a 2003 GLE with 122500 KM on it and just got back from my first "driving in the snow" experience. The TCS on that thing is amazing!! I blew past these guys on a slight uphill, the first a Z28 (no surprise!!) was just slippin' and slidin' on his fat tires; the other was a Honda Civic, which I though would have a little better traction (maybe bad tires).

Anyway, one thing that bothered me was that I could have the front windshield defrost on, no floor heat, or floor heat but no defrost. I played around with the HVAC controls and couldn't seem to find the combo that allowed windshield defrost and floor heat at the same time.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

PJ

The Maxima is a much heavier car than a Civic. I also have an '03 (without TCS even), and I get around a lot better than when I had a smaller car (Alero, Escort, etc.).

I assume you have the auto climate control. I have the manual, and there's a specific button for defrost+floor heat. Get a manual from your parts department, or try

there may be a .PDF version floating around somewhere.

Hey Rich,

Thanks for the tip, I do have the auto climate control. In the winter, I leave it on ECON as the owners manual says ;). I have tried fiddling with the AUTO plus floor heat but it just keeps switching off one or the other.

Sorry, replying to my own post. I rechecked the manual and see that on page

4-10 there is a setting for the DEF and FLOOR in the "Air Flow Control". I must have missed that when I was cycling through on the HVAC control. Maybe it's time for some glasses!!

"Manual, who reads the effing manual!!??"
