Sparkplugs on '97 3.0 maxima

I've been told the inlet manifold needs to be removed to replace plugs. Is this true??

No.

There is a plastic cover on the front of the engine block, take that off. It's just a couple of socket head cap screws.

You do need a 12" extension to reach the plugs.

No. You have to take off the plastic cover over the front of the engine to do the front plugs. There is nothing over the rear. Just remove the coils and change the plugs as you would with any other modern engine.

Thanks for explaining sparkplug replacement for me. Do you believe it was actually a mechanic who told me manifold had to be removed. Some mechanics must obtain their trade certificate from a cereal packet! Anyway, thanks again.

Sounds kinda like somebody was looking to make enough from the job to cover that next boat payment...

Sounds like someone who wouldn't know a plenum from a plenum cover. Big difference.
