2 button RF keyfob prgramming later 206 (same fob as 307)

My 2003 206 uses the 'chunky' 2 button keyfob same as used on the 307. My dog has chewed one of the keys to destruction, I have saved the metal blade and the little black rectangular chip thingy that I believe is the immobiliser transponder. I have a key off Ebay which is identical and have transferred the transponder chip and blade , I can now open the door with the blade and the car starts but the buttons dont operate the remote locking, is there a way to program or code the buttons or is it a main agent job? Regards MO

Switch on the ignition and hold the "lock" button down for 10 seconds. Switch off and remove the key. Wait for 5 seconds and try. It should work.

Hi Nigel, Thanks for the reply, Just gave it a try but no go, I think I've understood the method correctly, this is exactly what I tried.: (did this with doors closed but not locked) Key in ignition Turn ignition on holding large rectangular (Lock) button for 10 secs Ignition off and key out Wait 5secs Check key function , still the same. Maybe the key is faulty or perhaps I'm not doing it quite correctly. Any other help appreciated. MO

Similar problem here - I've got a late model 306 with a 2 button RF keyfob, without LED (i.e not earlier infra-red sort). The keyfob stopped working to unlock the doors, and I've replaced the battery, but it still doesn't work. There doesn't seem to be any damage to the electronics, so I'm puzzled. I've tried the procedure above but still no joy. I have a nasty feeling that Pug dealers charge a fortune for these keys..

Am I right in saying that ANY keyfob electronics can be synchronised to the car (providing the separate transponder chip and physical key are retained ?)

Any more ideas ?

Cheers,

- Steve

I've now spent quite some time trying to find out about this and although not working for me Nigels technique seems to be the recomended method and is mentioned on a few sites, it's very hard to get information but as far as I can determine the only 'unique' part of these keys is the immobiliser transponder chip so it should be possible to program or reset the button functions. My local dealer wants £148 for a new key, while I was still in shock he added 'PLUS VAT !' Anyone else have info ?? MO

Hi,

Some sync procedures available here :

I haven't tried them (no car to test), but may worth a try.

Eeek ! I'm not surprised though. I tend to agree with the suggested methods, although they're not really what I WANT to hear because I think I've tried all of them and my key still doesn't work! Thanks for the help !
