206 Auto gearbox fault

I have a '99 206 1.4 LX auto.

After approx 3/4 mile from a stone cold start, (i.e. first thing in the morning or during the night - but not during the daytime), the Ice and Sports warning lights flash alternately. The manual states this is a 'disturbance' to the system. My dealer looked at it and stated that the ECU showed a fault code (BVA_AL4). They cleared the fault from the ECU, and said if it re-occurs, a 'Hydraulic Valve Block' will be required, (£574 fitted).

Has anyone had this fault successfully repaired, or know if the Hydraulic valve block repair is likely to work? Any replies would be gratefully received before I part with all that money!

Thank you David

Sorry to not be able to help you directly David, other than to pass on my experiences. We have an '01 1.4LX Auto, which had/s a tendency to stall when cold. No warning lights though.

Dealer had the car (overnight) no less than 3 times, and failed to fix it no less than 3 times.

I fully expect the problem to recur next winter, when I shall be taking it back to another dealer. No doubt after the 3yrs is up, they will recommend some other unbelievably expensive sounding repair like yours.

Moral: Don't take the first dealer's word as gospel. Try another, or an independent Peugeot specialist.

Best of Luck
