206GTi climate control

Can anyone shed any light?

I think the DCC on my '02 GTi is acting up.

At the moment, with an ambient outside temperature of around 8'C and the engine fully warm, anything below about 23'C set on the panel shuts the footwell air off and it starts blowing cold (outside temp) air in. The aircon isn't cutting in, but it gets bloody cold in the car. It never seems to blow hot air in at all (warm is the best I get). As soon as I switch from auto to eco, all that seems to happen is that the windscreen mists up (something which I normally associate with having the recirc switched in). I thought ECO was designed to save fuel in hot weather and attempt to cool the cabin down using outside air rather than aircon cooled air. Also, tonight, with the target temperature set at 23, there was a cold draft - it was shoving cool / cold air up through the screen vents.

My main dealer says "well it's getting warm / cold as you change the temperature so it must be working OK". Needless to say, I'm not convinced. At the moment, I'm dreading it turning really cold in case I have to start driving in gloves and a coat - something I loathe.

The thing is, I certain it wasn't behaving like this last year...

If anyone has had similar experiences, I'd like to hear from them.

Even more: the airconditioning is off so it behaves like a regular heater. This also means that the air doesn't get dehumidified. Hence the steamed up windows.

Uh, change the dealer. If I had gotten that reaction I would have been mad.
